A new infographic by Chitika insights reveals the latest trends in search, with Google, Yahoo, Bing, Ask and AOL as the main players. The results are a bit different than revealed in comScore qSearch analysis, where Google Inc. ( GOOG ) sites led the explicit core search market in November with 65.4 percent market share. Chitika insights places Google at 70.2 percent market share and state that Bing dropped 0.48 in total usage, and Yahoo! Inc. ( YHOO ) sites saw a share rise of 1.5%.
The data differs from comScore’s analysis on several points, but there are some interesting takeaways by Chitika insights, concerning a couple of search predictions for the near future. Obviously, Google remains king of search as 2012 comes to a close, but the company concludes that Yahoo! will continue to strengthen its position in the search market, “as its new offerings seem to strike the right chords with users.” There’s also a chance for search engines like DuckDuckGo, because privacy issues will continue to remain central concerns for business and consumers, who will now start looking for “privacy focused” search engines to enter the market.
